What are Connection Groups?
Sunday Night Connections are groups of 4-20 people who meet throughout the area in homes for prayer, Bible discussion, worship and evangelization. Connection groups are NOT "churches" nor are they independent of the church body.
When do Connections happen?
Most of our Connection groups meet on Sunday nights from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. everyone is free to leave, although some may fellowship longer depending on the host's desires. Often, on fifth Sundays, all the groups will meet together for a special celebration at church. Occasionally Connection groups will have a fun event like cookout, picnics, etc.
What happens at Connection?
Each Connection group is led by a trained, proven, faithful leader who is under submission to the Pastor and committed to the kingdom goals and purposes that center around worshipping God, disciplining believers, and winning the lost. As the people gather in a home, in an informal way, there are refreshments and fellowship to help all feel welcome, relaxed and involved. Every meeting will include a time of prayer for the needs of group members, the church body and the lost. There is always a time of Bible discussion where everyone is invited to ask questions and give input related to passages of scripture, Sunday's sermon, and/or how to live out the life of Christ in a practical way.
What About the Children?
Bring them! Our Connection groups are inter generational with special attention given to our children when they separate from the adults for a special training time, but they are fully a part of the life of the group. Some groups may not have any children and some may have several. Whatever the case, we believe our children's spiritual well-being is as important as adults. We love them and want them to be a part of Connections!
What is expected of me at Connection?
Because these groups have a specific kingdom purpose, we encourage everyone to participate in the group activities. Obviously it takes time to get to know and feel comfortable with other people, so you don't need to feel nervous about being "pushed" into participating on any level you don't feel comfortable. We encourage everyone to make a commitment to the group and attend on a regular basis.
Who can come to Connection?
Our Connection groups are always open to newcomers as well as regular church members. You don't have to have any special knowledge of qualifications to attend. You will be welcomed, loved, accepted, and respected no matter what your race, background, religion, culture, gender, age, etc.
So how do I get involved?
If you don't know someone who is already involved in Connections, check the Sunday Night Connections board in the foyer for active groups. Just give the leader a call and they'll tell you everything you need to know. You may also call the church office, talk to the pastor, or just stop somebody and ask!
College & Career:
Young Adults 18-25 years of age. This group meets on the Church campus. Special Youth Connection:
Our Youth Connections meet at the church on Sunday night and follow a little different format, through they are the same in essence. They may begin arriving at 5:45 p.m. for fun, games, etc. and stay as late as 8:15. Some Sunday evenings special events may be planned and a later pick-up time is acceptable. These special times will be announced by the Youth Pastor or leader. Youth Connections are for grades 6 through 12. Parents, of course, are welcome to occasionally drop in and check it out.
